Troy Devine Obituary, St. John KS Death: Community Mourns Beloved Resident

The residents of St. John, Kansas, are mourning the loss of Troy Andrew Devine, who passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 28 while receiving care at INTEGRIS Health Hospital. His death has left family members, friends, coworkers, and community members grieving the loss of a dedicated father, respected professional, and valued friend.

Born on April 8, 1998, in Great Bend, Troy was the son of Darin Devine and Chrissy Devine Green. Raised in Stafford County, he grew up in a close-knit rural community that helped shape the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion that guided him throughout his life. After graduating from St. John High School in 2017, he maintained strong ties to his hometown and the friendships he formed there.

Troy built a successful career in the excavation industry and was employed as a foreman with Dig-Rite Hydro Excavation. He earned the respect of coworkers and supervisors through his leadership abilities, commitment to quality work, and readiness to tackle difficult projects. Prior to that role, he worked for Cornwell Farms, where he developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and the rural way of life. Regardless of the job at hand, Troy approached his work with determination, professionalism, and pride.

While he was dedicated to his career, those closest to him say his greatest source of happiness was being a father. He is survived by his son, Weston Devine, whom he loved deeply. Family members recall the special bond they shared and the devotion Troy showed in supporting, encouraging, and caring for his son.

In addition to Weston, Troy is survived by his mother, Chrissy (Mark) Green of St. John; his father, Darin Devine of Larned; and his son’s mother, Rachel Bussen of Hutchinson. He is also survived by his brother, Austin White and his wife Brooke of Cimarron, as well as his sister, Makayla Devine, and her fiancé, Kelsey Valenzuela, of Stafford.

His extended family includes grandparents Eddie and Bettina Devine of Seward, Wade and Rae Eversole of Sun City, and Jimmy Green of St. John. He was also a proud uncle to Helen, Esther, Eden, and Vincent, all of whom benefited from his loving and playful presence.

Troy was preceded in death by his grandmothers Josephine Snell, Kay Leatherman, and Elaine Green, whose memories remained important to him throughout his life.

Friends and loved ones remember Troy as a dependable, generous, and kind-hearted person who was always willing to help others. Whether spending time with family, supporting friends, or working alongside colleagues, he was known for his positive outlook, strong character, and ability to make meaningful connections with people from all walks of life.

Following news of his passing, community members have shared numerous tributes celebrating his life, work ethic, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to those he cared about. Many have reflected on the lasting impact he made through both his professional accomplishments and personal relationships.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Minnis Chapel. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the IOOF Lodge, with Pastor Wade Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live through the Minnis Chapel Facebook page, allowing family and friends to participate in honoring and celebrating Troy’s life from afar.

Troy Andrew Devine will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the kindness he extended to others. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
